Refolo, a breath of fresh wind.
The origin of the name comes from the desire to give the idea of something new and fresh (rèfolo – Sudden breath of wind) and from the acronym of the first members (La Rete, Fopab and the Opera Pavoniana).
Refolo is a type B social cooperative established On June 20, 2022 born from the desire of people and entities of the Third Sector to pick up the torch of the different experiences that are articulated in the province of Brescia and to build an increasingly effective system for the creation of supportive and environmentally aware communities. It is therefore a process of aggregation among social realities in the Brescia area that see social agriculture as having a dual impact: social and environmental.
Refolo was created with the aim of creating an agro-ecological and social corridor that runs through the province of Brescia from north to south with the hope that administrations and other communities will come together to generate a positive impact on the environment and the community.
Refolo operates in an area located between the municipalities of Brescia, Collebeato, Villa Carcina and Montirone, territories that share the presence of agricultural areas that over the years have been abandoned due to their unsuitability for intensive agriculture and lack of interest by new generations and that are now ready to start again. The priority objective of Refolo, also thanks to the support of Restart Italia, is to promote local economic development, activating opportunities for job placement of individuals in disadvantaged conditions. The project is part of the sustainable economic development measures from an agro-ecological and social perspective, as a tool to oversee and respond to the risk of land degradation, and looks at urban resilience as a key to change, leveraging new generations.
