The purpose
To provide financial support and operational and strategic assistance to social cooperatives that stand out for their impact and entrepreneurial vision.
How does it work?
The financial resources are provided through equity participation and with repayment on flexible terms (3-5 years) at 0% interest rate with no application fees and with an underlying ‘forgiveness clause’.
Who can participate?
Social cooperatives are evaluated/selected based on different criteria such as:
entrepreneurial and social qualities of the team and management
entrepreneurial profile of the project and potential for income generation
social risk (ability to achieve the social goal)
ability to leverage the financial support received to activate additional financial resources
What are the opportunities for cooperatives?
- flexible and patient financial support
- pre and post-investment support (mentorship, ad hoc counseling, training on specific areas, strategic guidance, search for additional capital)
- flexible and patient capital to promote new entrepreneurial ideas and/or strengthen the cooperative’s structure
- virtuous logic: full or partial return of capital received to become an active player in a process of resource regeneration
What are the opportunities for philanthropic entities/foundations to join?
Implement the role of patient support and entrepreneurship development.
Enhance own actions by partnering with an intermediary entity such as Fondazione Opes-Lcef.
Decide, at the end of the period, whether to replenish the revolving fund or to allocate the resources committed to other purposes.
Where is Restart Italy being implemented?
Different are the territories and areas of intervention, based on the choices and expectations of the Foundations/Philanthropic Institutions that join the initiative and take part in the Investment Committees.
