MANO LIBERA

ManoLibera is a mixed social cooperative (A+B) established in October 2022 by the will of the people working in the intergenerational and intercultural spaces “Casa del Quartiere” and “Porto delle Culture – Biblioteca sociale”, active since 2018 in Via Milano, 59 in Brescia. The area in which the cooperative operates is the Fiumicello neighborhood, on the western outskirts of the city of Brescia that has always experienced a fragile situation, being divided in half: on one side are the historical residents and on the other side are the new inhabitants of foreign origin.
The “Casa del Quartiere” was born upon the incentive of the Municipality of Brescia, which brought to light the need for a place in the neighborhood open to the needs of the residents and today represents a real social and cultural reference point.
A year later the “Porto delle Culture” social library was born as a result of conspicuous book donations but also in order to realize the need for a second space that could accommodate the cooperative’s activities.
ManoLibera now runs several other services including “In Circolo – Biblioteca degli oggetti” and the “Brigata Aggiustatutto”.
Restart Italia’s contribution aims to support the growth of ManoLibera and encourage its development in an area rich of fragilities and with a especially complex social fabric.
