La Venenta is a type A/B social cooperative founded in 2011 in Bologna with the aim of providing socio-educational services and creating employment and re-employment opportunities for people in disadvantaged situations. It operates in particular in support of women who are victims of violence, for whom it manages several residential communities and has developed a range of support pathways. The “B” branch of the cooperative focuses on craft and artisanal activities in the textile sector.
La Venenta is based in San Giorgio di Piano (BO) and has several operational sites in the same municipality and in the surrounding area of the Eastern Po Plain District of Bologna, a territory in which it is deeply rooted.
While primarily focused on managing local residential facilities, the cooperative also welcomes single-parent families and individuals from across the Emilia-Romagna region and neighbouring regions, with a reach that effectively extends nationwide. La Venenta works actively with Social Services for minors and local health authorities across both regional and national territories.
The support from Restart Italia is aimed at backing the development and renovation of the mother-and-child community “Colombara”, housed in a property owned by the cooperative and already authorised for use as a mother-and-child community. The project involves expanding the facility, increasing the total number of beds from 7 to 20.
