COOPERATIVA ALICE

Alice is a type B social cooperative based in Milan operating in the Lombardy region, mainly in its capital city. Through its tailoring workshops Alice trains women with fragilities or inmates (particularly women) in prisons and guides them to develop specific skills that they can later implement once their prison term is over. The cooperative is currently present inside the Monza (men’s section) and Bollate (women’s section) prisons, to which is added an external location in Via Barrili, aimed at continuing the rehabilitation project, and an external location in Brescia at the Razzetti Institute. Since its inception in 1992, Alice has been committed to protecting the traditions of “Made in Italy”, promoting sustainable lifestyles, fighting prejudice, and ensuring fairly paid work, enabling the women and men it supports to become active participants in the local economy. Over the years, Alice has enabled more than 450 marginalized women to achieve economic independence.
Restart Italia’s goal is to support Alice in the development of EthicaRei, a project established to provide real and Immediate answers to the fashion system that is constantly searching for new balances between economic, environmental and social sustainability. The idea is to combine Alice’s experience in the manufacturing sector and in conducting network projects with the expertise in sustainable development and management of the social enterprise FEAT with the aim of creating the first production district of Made in Italy guaranteed Fair Trade: EthicaRei.
