WidEnergy Africa Ltd was incorporated in September 2016 in Lusaka, Zambia. WidEnergy offers an affordable path to electrification with a pay as you go (PayGo) solar solution for the off-grid homes in Zambia. Its mission is to empower women to become the champions and advocates of clean energy.
WidEnergy Africa Ltd was co-founded by two very passionate women Liliane Munezero Chabuka, Agnes Imasiku, and BiziSol (A Swedish social enterprise, committed to empowering African women in clean energy). The company conducts direct sales in local communities, allowing the field teams to own the sales and the on-boarding process. Customers are connected to energy, internet, and mobile money at each point of sale.
The company is currently operating in 6 provinces and 11 districts in Zambia. With, 53 full time employees and over 300 commissioned Sales Agents, WidEnergy has connected more than 8,500 households and directly impacted close to 60,000 lives. The target is to reach 45,000 households by the year 2023. This will come with the introduction of new products and services, for example distribution of clean cook stoves, solar water pumps, TVs and other clean energy solutions.
