On Saturday 6 October 2018, Project Quid realized another dream by inaugurating a new retail store in the centre of historic Verona, a mere stone’s throw from Piazza delle Erbe.
Evidence of continuous growth from the social cooperative, which uses high quality excess fabrics from large fashion houses to create limited edition clothing. Made using artisanal methods by at-risk people (such as former prisoners, people with disabilities, those who have lost jobs, are over 50 years of age, or are female victims of violence, trafficking and prostitution), Quid’s apparel pieces are unique, like the stories of those who produce them. “It’s a huge achievement for us and our 105 employees to have a shop in the very centre of Verona” says Ludovico Mantoan, the CEO of Quid. “We want to create value for our local area, beginning in particular with women and men who are in conditions of hardship, so we are very happy and proud of this new shop in the heart of Verona, which represents a significant growth milestone for the Project that today operates 6 retail stores and expects to have 3 million euro in revenue by the end of this year. This new opening is part of a broader growth plan, which foresees an increase in social impact due to the strengthening of our commercial arm, made possible thanks to the support of Opes Impact Fund and assistance from local and international funds” adds Anna Fiscale, President of Project Quid.
In addition to the new shop, Project Quid intends to inaugurate a new warehouse next month, thereby creating two sites of operations, one dedicating to prototyping and commercial activities, and the other to production. The total workspace will increase from the current 300sqm to 1200sqm, creating significant improvements in the quality of working conditions and outputs. But at Quid, new projects are continuously being developed: an example is the sartorial laboratory inside the prison of Montorio, which has been operating for four years in the women’s ward and was extended a few months ago to the men’s ward, allowing inmates to learn job skills and give them a possibility for future labour market integration. Quid – a project in motion, a team ready to face challenges and able to combine social impact with product quality.
