OIKOS

Oikos is a type B social cooperative born in 2000 in Villa d’Almè (Bergamo) from La Cascina Consortium. The Consortium, in possession of an agricultural area, established Oikos with the aim of cultivating its own vineyard and developing a new agricultural-ecological project.
The goal of Oikos is to promote the social and job integration of disadvantaged people through activities that enhance individuals and respect the environment. Oikos operates in two areas: agriculture (design and maintenance of green areas, vineyard restoration and wine production) and environment (cleaning and sanitizing environments, offices, schools, and management of ecological pitches).
Since its foundation, Oikos has developed a valuable corporate culture and specific skills through its activities. These include the ability to manage fully organic processes, care for people, and provide integrated and tailored services.
The support of Restart Italia is aimed at promoting the development of the “Green Welfare” project, aimed precisely at the creation of Healing gardens capable of providing well-being to those who create them, to those who use them and to those who take care of maintenance. An initiative that aims to generate a culture and specific skills in the green sector to create natural environments capable of providing those who frequent them with an overall sensory experience that generates well-being. The project includes a theoretical-practical training plan involving both corporate staff and students, in order to create a professional figure of a “green welfare expert,” that is, a person with solid basic skills in organic cultivation, specific knowledge of different types of plants, the ability to design and implement green spaces that meet people’s well-being needs, and knowledge of the basic principles of environmental psychology and the effect of greenery on people’s health and well-being.
