Re_Esistente is a community cooperative established in August 2023 in Marzabotto (BO), in the Bolognese Apennines. Its mission is to collaborate in a mutualistic manner to manage the spaces and services of the Poggiolo Rifugio Re_Esistente, serving the general interest of the community within the Monte Sole Historic Park.
The Monte Sole Park, the site of the horrific Nazi-Fascist massacre of 1944, is undeniably a place of memory and a historically significant location. The cooperative centers its actions on this context. Through its management of the cultural center Il Poggiolo, Re_Esistente seeks to strengthen the network of stakeholders operating in the area, with the shared goal of preserving and promoting history and memory, reinforcing the identity of the refuge as a territorial stronghold and a year-round gathering place.
In 2020, Ozono Factory APS—an association that uses the arts as a tool for urban regeneration and later founded the Re_Esistente cooperative—initiated the regeneration of Poggiolo to make it a driver of tourism, economic, and social development.
The cooperative is deeply committed to engaging the local community and building partnerships with the municipal administration, the park authority that owns the spaces, local schools, Marzabotto’s historical archives, the Peace School, and the ANPI (National Association of Italian Partisans), which oversees historical memory trails.
Re_Esistente also organizes events and concerts for young people, including independent music productions, and promotes educational activities linked to the memory of the Marzabotto massacre.
