COOPERATIVA IL CALABRONE

Il Calabrone is a type A social cooperative founded in 1981 in Brescia that offers support to young people in difficulty to help them make autonomous and conscious choices through welcoming, listening and respect. The cooperative’s goal is to help those in difficulty rediscover the value and meaning of life and rebuild their autonomy.
Il Calabrone offers various services that can be grouped into three areas: Community, Projects and Services, and Youth Policy. Regarding the Community area, the cooperative manages two residential communities in Brescia and Collebeato for the reintegration and therapy of people with addiction problems.
Within the Projects and Services area, on the other hand, it offers a specialized center to solve specific problems, a family counseling center, an educational service for troubled youth, listening and prevention services in schools, and summer camps for children.
Finally, in the Youth Policy area Il Calabrone offers guidance, training and access to social and health services but also spaces to help young people become autonomous adults and workshops in which they can create goods or services of high social utility. Several social housing projects have also been implemented with the collaboration of the Associazione Amici del Calabrone.
Calabrone, also with the support of Restart Italia, has launched the “EduBike” initiative, an innovative and functional project that offers students attending the Artigianelli Institute in Brescia, or those in a school drop-out condition, the opportunity for an afternoon course in assembling and customizing cargo bicycles with pedal-assisted pedaling. The project aims to help the participants recover a positive relationship with their bodies and their emotions, promoting a proactive role in their growth and encouraging sustainable mobility in the area.
