In a fragile and complex era … Very encouraging news!
This video is dedicated to the amazing employees in the AFRIpads’ factory in Uganda, one of the social enterprises in our portfolio.
It’s a true representation of grit and determination from a group of women who decided that COVID-19 would not hold them back.
This global pandemic has posed many challenges, far exceeding the direct strains on the global health care system, and Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHH) Management has been no exception. We have witnessed problems arise worldwide around menstrual product access and have heard far too many stories about women and girls having to choose between food or pads. It has also been apparent that time and time again, menstrual supplies have not been considered as essential items in COVID-response donations.
Here are some of Afripad’s achievements from the first 90 days of lock-down:
- manufactured over one million reusable pads
- delivered orders to over 13 countries
- reached over 175,000 woman and girls with our reusable menstrual kits
This video highlights how this pandemic has given us all a newfound appreciation for essential workers. Their important work is helping women to access much-needed services during these challenging times. That’s why choosing AFRIpads is about much more than purchasing reusable menstrual kits. AFRIpads empowers women and girls in many different and long-lasting ways.
