OPES-LCEF is a NOT-FOR-PROFIT IMPACT FUND that provides patient capital to early stage enterprises tackling poverty and benefitting low-income communities. With our recently completed MERGER OF THE OPES IMPACT FUND AND LOW CARBON ENTERPRISE FUND (LCEF) – two funds committed to bridging the pioneer gap – we bring together the talents and experience of the two firms to support early stage impact entrepreneurs.
THE LOW CARBON ENTERPRISE FUND (LCEF) came to the partnership with 10 years prior investment experience, having begun operations in 2007 as a programme of the ERM Foundation and later as an independent philanthropic focused fund. The LCEF focused on SMEs whose products and services provided LOW CARBON ALTERNATIVES TO LOWER INCOME CONSUMERS AROUND THE WORLD.
THE OPES IMPACT FUND was set up in 2013 by social-minded individuals and institutions from Italy (Acra, Altromercato, Fem, Fondazione Maria Enrica, Microventures). OPES was the only Italian-based investment vehicle with a focus on early stage impact enterprises in developing countries. Since its inception it has deployed patient capital into IMPACT SOCIAL VENTURES in East Africa and India. In 2015 OPES established Opint Stiching to enable the group to deploy venture debt into impact enterprises.
