OPES-LCEF is a NOT-FOR-PROFIT IMPACT FUND that provides patient capital to early-stage enterprises tackling poverty and benefitting low-income communities. The “operating merger” between FONDAZIONE OPES and the LOW CARBON ENTERPRISE FUND (LCEF) – brought together the talent and experience of two organizations to support early-stage impact entrepreneurs.
THE LOW CARBON ENTERPRISE FUND (LCEF) came to the partnership with 10 years prior investment experience, having begun operations in 2007 as a programme of the ERM Foundation and later as an independent philanthropic focused fund. The LCEF focused on SMEs whose products and services provided LOW CARBON ALTERNATIVES TO LOWER INCOME CONSUMERS AROUND THE WORLD.
THE OPES IMPACT FUND was set up in 2012 by social-minded individuals and institutions from Italy. OPES was one of the first Italian vehicle to support early-stage impact enterprises in the developing and emerging economies. OPES has deployed patient capital into impact enterprises providing solutions to social problems in key areas such as access to water, sanitation, education, energy, and low carbon emissions.
