Il Ponte is a type B cooperative established in 1988 that deals with social inclusion and job placement of disadvantaged people, including individuals with disabilities or social fragility. The cooperative aims to enable these people to acquire manual skills and abilities through experience and vocational training, in order to enable their inclusion in local businesses and make them feel an active part of society. The cooperative’s activities include assembly, packaging, packing and other processing of products for third parties. To date, Il Ponte cooperates with about 40 clients present in different sectors, both in Italy and abroad. The purpose, on which all production activities and the choices to support them revolve, is to make it possible for productions to operate according to each person’s capabilities.
Through its activities, Il Ponte aims to promote the autonomy, self-esteem and responsibility of disadvantaged people, making them participants in industrial production dynamics and preparing them for eventual inclusion in local companies.
By including Il Ponte in the Restart Italia initiative, the goal is to support the cooperative’s ambitious initiatives, and in particular the development of the “Fabbrichetta”.
The “Fabbrichetta” project is an initiative to regenerate and reuse an old industrial space in Arona (province of Novara), where the aim is to enhance the original productive vocation of the place as a “generative node” for the community. The project includes the creation of a workshop-productive area for the job placement of people with disabilities and social disadvantages, an area for training internships for young people with state-of-the-art machinery, and a gathering area for students from high schools and training centers in the city, with internet access and a study space.
